Re: What has happend with the paint?
the flat surfaces might have had things stacked on top (think stored in a barn) and were stained do to that. Just an idea.

Re: What has happend with the paint?
But then the stains should be ON the paint not IN the paint?
It gets better after the correction but it does not go away completley :-/

Re: What has happend with the paint?
I thihk it had plastic sheeting on it which is known to cause those kind of weird paint stains from trapping moisture under it.

Re: What has happend with the paint?
Setec beat me to it. no doubt that is plastic sticking on it for a long period of time causing those marks. a plastic cover of some sort. 99.9% sure.

Re: What has happend with the paint?
I have no experience with this product so please someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that I have heard that Meguiar's #7 could help with this issue. It contains nourishing oils that can help restore old single stage paint.

Re: What has happend with the paint?
being single stage paint, I would think you could cut through this with some compound. just be very careful not to go too far.

Re: What has happend with the paint?
I did a little research and confirmed my recollection that Meguiar's #7 is recommended for oxidized original single stage paint. Below is link to a thread in which Mike Phillips discusses single stage paint. That thread also includes a link to an article written by Mike Phillips on that issue. Good luck.

Re: What has happend with the paint?
I am thinking about the idea that the car have been sitting with some kind of cover on it. It could be since the shades have " sharp " edges. I will try get better pictures tomorrow.
