A variety of products and names!

I was just wondering if there is anything wrong with using Pinnacle XMT Swirl Remover #2 with an orange pad, followed by Meguiar's Professional Show Car Glaze with a white pad, followed by Wolfgang's Deep Gloss Paint Sealant with a grey or blue pad, followed 24 hrs. later with Meguiar's Gold Class Carnauba Wax?

I know part of it depends on the condition of my car and I'd say the condition is fair with slightly moderate swirls and imperfections.

Thanks in advance.

Re: A variety of products and names!

The approach seems OK but try it on a test spot to confirm the process will satisfy you and achieve your expected results.

As mentioned:
-Test spot with least aggressive method
(are the XMT#2; orange pad...your least aggressive "tools"?)

Much debate about the steps/products you've listed:
-#7: SS/CC paint systems?
-Sealants: "Bonding/not bonding" to/with #7?
-Topping/layering waxes over Sealants?
-Following manufacturers' recommendations, or not?

Perhaps these links may be of assistance...Perhaps not:

I couldn't find Mr. Phillips #7 article, in its entirety, using AGO's search function.

@OP: I feel my response is somewhat lacking in the information you
are probably looking for, but I hope it at least helps in some small way.

Re: A variety of products and names!

Just wanted to say thank you for the advice. I have come to the conclusion that #7 is not what I'm looking for. I've noticed in the past that it's extremely hard to get off, now I know why. Response was perfect by the way. I'm glad I didn't do 7-8 hours of work to only be dissapointed. Thanks again. Can I ask what Polish you or anybody for that matter might recommend to go along with listed above.

Re: A variety of products and names!

for most swirl removal i use meg Ultimate compound/ i also like the XMT line the megs seem a little more glossy, followed with glaze, the a wax/sealant then if needed wait to cure and top with nuba. It seem to work great with some great results on a variety of colors. good luck.

Re: A variety of products and names!

So when you ask what "Polish" to use after the Pinnacle #2 "Fine" swirl remover, are you looking for something to "jewel" the paint (i.e. are you looking for more correction) or are you looking for something to hide any remaining imperfections? Just trying to clarify as the textbook definition of a true "polish" seems to be "oils to feed the paint" and would not provide additional correction/"jeweling". Just trying to clarify so you get pointed to the right product.

Assuming you're going to do this step before the Wolfgang sealant if it was me, I'd go with the Wolfgang polish enhancer. Read every word of the product description to understand its intent (you'll see that it meets the definition of "polish" I cited above).
Wolfgang Pre-Wax Polish Enhancer

My thought is that I'd use the Wolf's product since it's the Wolf's sealant that will have to stick to whatever polish you put down. There have been posts by Mike Phillips suggesting that it's a good idea (or at least not a bad idea) to use one brand's system to ensure that products will work well together. (But I wouldn't worry that you're using Pinnacle correction since its description says it leaves no residue.)

Re: A variety of products and names!

^^Thanks for the reply, Yes I'm looking to use a 3 -step process. I want to use the Pinnacle SR #2 for the compound stage with an orange pad to remove swirls and imperfections, then I want to use a polish to bring out the shine and follow that with WGDGPS. Instead of purchasing all new products I just want to use what I have.

ETA:I will first wash, dry and clay the car obviously.
