1966 VW Mini T Metal Flake ?

My son Just brought this home and asked me to help Clean it up.

What process/Product on the chrome bits?
Wheels need definite attention?
Fiberglass Body work is not paint. How should I handle it?

I know nothing about the paint, but that is a rad little buggy. I would assume you'd handle the paint like a single stage paint.

Re: 1966 VW Mini T Metal Flake ?

1) Is it actually painted or is it a 'metal flake gel-coat'? Like some boats have?

2) WOW! Haven't seen one of those for years. The VW kits were realllly popular, especially when the world was full of V-Dubs. I kinda miss the original bugs, fun cars.

1) he said it's not paint, so it's gotta be gelcoat...doesn't look bad, either, at least not like a boat, lol.

2) Dig those Mustang taillights, dude!

Gelcoat is really hard and tends to get difficult-to-remove fading, but you look pretty good. I thought Mike Phillips might have a gelcoat thread but I don't see one. Do a search on "gelcoat" in the title, there are a bunch of threads.
