Interior Windshield Glass Streaks - Honda

I have a 2008 honda civic coupe that has a terrible streaking problem on the inside glass. If I wipe it with a damp micriofiber towel I could see what appeared to be lines going up and down especially visible on the drivers side. I could actually feel them.

I tried claying and some light polish.. that removed the visible lines but the glass still streaks like crazy.

The glass does not get slick but catches when I got to buff it off. I tried different cleaners, vinegar and water and went through a ton of towels... still steaks.

The ouside and all the side windows clean up well...but the interior front is so bad I have considered replacing it...

Anybody have a similar issue... is this possible a honda windshield problem.

Have you tried using an window cleaner? Make sure not to use too much product, or else it will streak. You can pick up some Sprayaway Aerosol Glass Cleaner for cheap and it works great! My favorite glass cleaner.

What is sound to me is that you're using the wrong materials. IMO and IME you should invest in some stoner's glass cleaner and some nice waffle weave towels. Also, if you do go this route, DO NOT use a ton of product. It's not necessary. If your towel becomes over saturated, it will streak.

Re: Interior Windshield Glass Streaks - Honda

I tried several window cleaners... Same technique I use on other windows and different cars without issue. I have tried stoner and cg withincreased dilution rates (more dilute than what I normally use) even though the ratio works fine on other windows.

Normally I have a problem like this if I do not use enough clean towels but thats not the case... especially grabbed a bunch and ensure only clean ones were used for final buff off with only a coulple squirts of cleaner... Once again back and side windows everything is fine...

The apparent differnce is the glass still feels like it catches the towel when trying to buff... this being after claying and some light polish..

Streak and "catching" problem existed before I clayed or polished... I used Meq clear plastic cleaner and washed several ties with damp microfiber to remove residue before trying to reclean...

Alex might be right. There could still be polish residue left on the glass. Try mixing up some IPA. That should dissolve any residue. Make sure the glass in cool to the touch and you are not doing this in direct sunlight. That makes a huge difference.

Re: Interior Windshield Glass Streaks - Honda

The only other tquestion that comes to mind is are you're doing this in direct sunlight and/or the glass is hot? Other then that I'm out of ideas. If you haven't tried stoners and a waffle weave towel then I'd suggest that. I've tried other stuff and I had problems with streaking. Once I tried Stoners I never looked back. I've also heard the new Meg's glass cleaner works really well.

Try doing what Ryan said with the IPA. Do you smoke?

That really blows man...sorry to hear it.

I had a similar problem with my truck and since it was factory tint I tried KAIO and worked great and easier to keep clean.

Car is in garage... Car has around 20k miles and I am second owner so I do not know if they smoked.. but I do not.

I tried IPA wipe and even some prep-solve this morning.. same thing... seem like due to the drag between the rag and windshield it just smear when you buff out.

Of all vehicles to have this problem on... these civics are a real pain to clean, so close to the dashboard etc...

Question - the windshield (and all side windows also) has a black banner around it on inside... is this tint applied to the inside of the window... if so and I dealing with a tint problem. Windshield is a facory install not aftermarket...
