Re: Just bought Mothers California Gold Clay Bar Kit

Just a few things that may help your problems. Soap to water ratio don't free pour keep surfaces wet by respraying with water until you can dry with microfiber towel.I would also think about investing in a good quailty sheepskin wash mitt this will help absorb the trash and keep it away from your paint. Also in recent post by Mike he say's that he does not condone the use of rubbing alcohol. And if it is used should be 10:1 ratio with caution.Find some shade and use the detailing spray supplied with your clay bar use plenty of spray work in small area and dry with a microfibre towel. these practices work for me in Va. Hope this helps you solve your problems. Chris

Got it fixed, I was only charged 40 dollars.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I'm sorry I had my head in my @ss and ignored your warnings. I'll live and learn from this experience.

Used it twice and it worked great. I also like the Megs.

Re: Just bought Mothers California Gold Clay Bar Kit

Damn mother nature. I got up early to wash my car so I wouldn't have to deal with water spots. Got sidetracked out in the garage on my way to wash the car so I didn't beat the sun. Luckily it was overcast, I get half-way through washing my car and the sun broke through, ended up with water spots all over the friggin' place. I'm about to order Duragloss 505 water spot remover, anyone have good reviews on it?

DG 505 water spot remover does work on fresh water spots where a normal detailer does not remove them. It has a definite acid (think vinegar) type smell.

Use your clay and showtime lube...those deposits haven't been on there that long. Should work just fine. No need to order anything just yet. It's not like you left those spots there for weeks on end.

By the way, if that guy fixed your paint for $40 count yourself blessed. That's great!

Re: Just bought Mothers California Gold Clay Bar Kit

I have used the Mothers and Meguiars Clay Kit and they work but it takes time. I just ordered a NanoSkin cloth and from I have seen and heard it works alot better and it will cut your time down decomtaminating the car like in 1/2. Yes it little more expensive but it will do 40-50 cars. When I get. I think I will get it today via FedEx.

Re: Just bought Mothers California Gold Clay Bar Kit

Yeah Hotyman, He did a damn good job. I'll be going to him for now on. I found out the guy who screwed my paint up has fake newspaper articles on his webpage saying he's been in business since 1991, But a local search of his business showed he opened that business up in 2011. The BBB close my complaint due to him not responding and his BBB score is a C- due to my complaint

I waxed the car afterwards and it took most of the water spots off. My house is located in a way that there is no shade, And using Duragloss 505 is cheaper than buying a claybar kit every couple of months. I'll be clay baring again in late November. The only place I can park at school without some moron scratching my doors up is on the side of the road under a lot of pine trees. I use bug and tar remover everyday when I get home from class but some bits of bug droppings and sap don't want to come off.

The towels are fantastic.... AND you can now buy them from Mother's directly! The price is really good for what they are (just like all Mothers products).
