Another DA/Sealant/Wax??

After lurking and reading for a few days I've confused myself to the point I have to ask this outright. For years I used Meguiar's Deep Crystal System by hand. I have a pretty bad injury to my dominant (rt) arm the precludes me from wax on/ wax off without a ton of discomfort. Someone recommended to try Glare as it would be easy to apply. My experience is not so much for my compromised rt arm. I have let the paint go on my Raptor and Lincoln but not my Harley (a man's gotta have priorities ya know).

Anyway, I could really use some opinions on what to buy, in terms of DA and sealant or wax and pads to allow me to get my toys in order. I'm searching for products that require the least amount of physical force for application. Also would anyone car to opine as to what DA is the easiest to hold and operate in terms of on/off trigger and/or vibration?

I'd like to put an order in here ... just on information overload. Spent too much time reading. I just need to keep it simple.

For those that may wonder why not pay to have it done .... Well, hard to explain but when your used to doing for yourself it's hard to give up the control. I'd like to think with the right equipment I can keep going!!

Thank for any and all opinions!!!!

Re: Another DA/Sealant/Wax??

I have only used the Griots DA, so I can comment on the easiest. It has a loop style handle that could give you more range of comfort then the side post.
For a very easy to apply sealant this is probably what you want. Just wipe it on. You dont need to even wipe to off!
Ultima Paint Guard Plus, paint sealant, liquid wax, paint sealer, car wax sealant

OPT also has Opt-seal, same deal wipe on dont wipe off.

For a wax, Fuzion or Pinnacle Sig II are very easy to work with. They are wipe on wipe off. Both are easy to remove and you could apply them with your DA.

Do any of your vehicles need polished? If you are looking at just something to apply wax you may just want an orbital buffer AKA wax spreader.

Thanks Jeff - The Lincoln definitely is going to require polishing as it's black and spider webs galore. I'm hoping to also be able to polish the bike to deepen the shine a bit.

Re: Another DA/Sealant/Wax??

Welcome aboard....
Im afraid I don't think a da is the way to go if such an issue with the arm as by there nature they vibrate so much you really do feel in the day after or even while doing it.
I feel the sealant is the way you should go as gives much longer longevity than a wax as mentioned the opti seal is fantastic product it really is a WoWa product simply wipe on and walk away it is so simple and can be used on the wheels also and trim safe top product.
I have recommended this in the past to not so able individuals that and the OCW optimum car wax

Re: Another DA/Sealant/Wax??

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm going to give the DA a shot because I'm low on elbow grease. If it turns out that that dog won't hunt I'll try something else. But I'm hopeful that the machine will help quite a bit as opposed to applying and removing various compounds by hand.

Re: Another DA/Sealant/Wax??

Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction System, paint polishing system, car polish, car detailing system, compounding system, remove scratches

That system has pretty much been the talk of every major detailing forums with noobies and pros alike getting great results. So if I where you I would look into it. Reviews are posted all over the place with nothing but positive comments, the only thing that seems to hurt this system is the Cutting/Finishing MF pads that seems to have very low life AND temperament with speed issues.

As for machines the PC7424XP has been a staple for many members here and is a good starting point. The only other two DA's that you can purchase is the Griot's and the Meguiar's. The major difference being the Griot's 6" being the more powerhouse and the Meguiar's having more varied speed options.

Personally went with a Griot's over the XP and the Meguiar's G110v2 for the simple reason in having more power (won't bog down), lifetime warranty from the company Griot's if anything goes wrong, and the price. it sits right below the G110v2 and right above the XP. I also own a PC7424 and between the two I find the Griot's to be a lot smoother. So much less vibrations and I like the loop handle vs the side grip.

Hope that helps

Re: Another DA/Sealant/Wax??

That's great thanks. So the Griot's is a unit you'd consider to have the least amount of vibration? Can I use smaller backing plate on the Griot's 6'' or do I need to consider also purchasing the 3'' to work on the bike?

Re: Another DA/Sealant/Wax??

Mine has the Meguiar's W-67DA BP which is a 5/16"-24 spindle connection that all DAs have that detailers use (I don't consider the Flex 3401 a DA).

So to your question yes you can use a different DA BP on a GG6

Dual Action 5 Inch HD Backing Plate, DA backing plate, backing pad
Porter Cable 7424 Backing Plates- Dual Action Hook & Loop backing plate for your porter cable 7424, The best backing plates for the Porter Cable 7424
Meguiars Mirror Glaze W68DA Dual Action Backing Plate, hook and loop backing plate, orbital backing plate
Meguiars Mirror Glaze G110 DA Polisher 5 inch Backing Plate

Which can also be used on the PC7424XP and G110v2

Also my comparision was between the OLD PC7424 vs the GG6. I've never used the NEW PC7424XP and the G110v2. However whats still true is that the XP has a side grip compared to the G110 and GG6s loop like handle. The only great thing the XP has over the GG6 IMO is the ergonomics. Speed changer/Power On Off PC7424XP > GG6.

Re: Another DA/Sealant/Wax??

Thanks again!! This a great forum. Really appreciate input from real world use?
Anyone else care to share their thoughts on machine vibration levels on the various DA's?

Re: Another DA/Sealant/Wax??

I have used a Griots and own a PC. The Griots seemed to vibrate less IMO.
