How do you detail your exterior glass

How do you clean/polish the exterior of your windows? Please share the method you've determined to be the most effective.

I am looking to remove small defects and water etchings caused by daily wear and tear on my wifes car (and some extremely fine scratches) and give my windows a little tlc. I've always used stoners cleaner, Cobra microfiber towels, and occasionally have clayed them with pinnicle fine clay. I have yet to thoroughly detail the exterior glass and I am looking for an effective (hopefully economical) way to make the glass look new again either by hand or using my PC 742xp

Duragloss Nu Glass (755) will remove the water spots, but not the fine scratches. Try a compound and a 4" pad on a drill or DA. Be careful as some glass will scratch when using a compound. Do a small section first.

DP High Performance Glass Restorer removes etched water spots from auto glass and restores perfect clarity. Apply with a polisher or applicator for

Give this a try. Works for removing water marks and restoring clarity. U can get a glass cutting pad for your PC also, but don't expect miracles with severly scratched glass.

I've read up on the DG, the DP, and the Diamonite over the past several months and they all seem good. My confusion is whether or not you have to do several steps as you do with paint (compound then polish). Out of curiosity when you say "compound" do you mean something like an M-105? If so what color pad?? I have the M105-205 and the 4 inch pads for the PC already and that could save some money. Have you experimented with pad combo's? I have an assortment of the CCS pads with the most aggressive being orange through red.

Jim's spot on with this recommendation!

This product used with a dual action polisher and a gray pad produces amazing clarity. Once complete I throughly clean the glass then apply a treatment. .

  • DP Restorer
  • Meguiar's Glass Cleaner
  • Aquapel coating

Have you tried any glass specific polishing pads like those from Griot's or Lake Country?

After I've cleaned the glass, I use Klasse AIO. Works great on the glass and easy to use. Our clients love the way the water just falls off the glass and that they don't need to use their wipers very often.
