| Griots slowing down?
Ok we moved on to "glaze" using Wolfgang 3.0 and a tangerine Hydro tech Pad and after a couple of sections I've noticed the pad on my Griots is slowing down....it's just vibrating at times based on the black mark...I'll really reduce pressure and it picks back up, but I mean I have to barely put any pressure on it to get it to spin and if too little pressure, I'm winging splatter...
SO...is it me or the pad/product combo?...too much product build up in pad.....OR is my new Griots acting up?
had no issues when de-swirling and using a blue HT pad.....with WG 3.0....

Soggy, saturated pads will reduce rotation ability...
Here's a simple way to troubleshoot the problem.
Leave the speed setting along and swap on a clean, dry pad and then do the same thing you were doing with the wet pad and check the performance. If everything is better then the problem was the saturated pad. If there's still a problem then we need to look elsewhere... |

Yep, it was the saturated pad alright! A clean and dry pad fixed the problem!

It don't take much to hinder the pad from rotating on a DA Polisher with a Free Floating Spindle Assembly. A common question posted to the forum is, How many pads do I need to buff out a car?
The answer is... How fast do you want to do the job? The faster you want to work the more clean, dry pads you want to have on hand, then anytime you notice the performance of the pad rotation slowing down, simply switch to a clean, dry pad.

Mike upon further inspection I discovered that 2 of the tangerine pads we used for the glaze are now concave in the middle forming a depression in the center of the pad...I don't think this is normal?...defective pads? I think the depression was actually forming a suction on the car body and thus slowing down the pad....this would figure with how the pad reacted when i released pressure....all of a sudden it would "plump up"....
also got any tips for removing sealant from the red HT pads? I'm using the DP pad cleaner but that sealant stuff is like trying to clean butter with an ice cube!....

PS tha Max is done except for a nice coat of carNEWba wax....WOW what a difference!

I'm thinking

I'm thinking | We have the new Griots. I think you are right, definitely too much product. We try to use the same amount as Mike did in his videos. When we finished the car we had used 2/3 of the bottle of Wolfagang Swirl Remover. We were afraid to "dry buff". I suppose it is a learning curve. We are planning to wax today and then post the process pics. We finished swirl removing, glaze, and the sealant over the past two days. I can't wait to see the final car outside in the sun!
