Hand buffing/Polishing Technique?

I was looking for a video or how to technique regarding hand buffing but there aren't any (or at least I couldn't find it). What is the proper technique? Is it just as simple as using a foam pad (such as a Meguiar's foam applicator) and applying the compound in overlapping circular motions or is there more to it?

Re: Hand buffing/Polishing Technique?

Check these out,

I think in this first one I "write" a lot about working by hand with a lot of details but no videos..

Man versus Machine

This one also has a lot of detail about working by hand,

1-Step versus 3-Step Process by Hand

This one shows a possible problem when working by hand,

Finger Marks

Here's an old short video clip that shows me working with a version of ScratchX by hand when it was still made using Diminishing Abrasives. The new version uses SMA technology but I would still use the product the same way if I were trying to remove swirls and scratches.

The DVD is still available from Richard Lin here,

Just to note, I don't make any money on any sales from this DVD and haven't since 2006. I just wanted to note this so there's no appearance of impropriety.
